Songs for a Better Future
Commissioned by the Drawing Room for their forthcoming exhibition Best Laid Plans, Songs for a Better Future is a collaboration between Romanian visual artist Matei Bejenaru and Will Dutta.
Songs for a Better Future is a modernistic exploration of choir music. It draws on musical themes from proletarian choir songs and the idealisation of the worker in communism to electronic music songs of the 1970s and the fetishization and idealisation of the technological progress in the Western world.
Performances will take place at the Drawing Room and Tate Modern in Autumn 2010.
