Blank Canvas

‘An edgy evening with an experimental brief that celebrates Squarepusher every bit as much as Stravinsky’ Evening Standard

Established in late 2007, Blank Canvas is a bi-monthly club-night reputed for its eclectic contemporary classical and experimental music programming, which pays no heed to classical music convention.

Each edition of Blank Canvas showcases many of the biggest names creating cutting edge and innovative contemporary classical and experimental music alongside new talent to a young hip audience happy to consume classical music ground up with electronica and sound and visual installations.

Some of the artists who have stamped their mark across Blank Canvas gigs include: Sean O’Hagan (High Llamas frontman & Stereolab collaborator), Leafcutter John (of Mercury Award-nominated Polar Bear), Jack Liebeck (Classical Brit Award-nominee), Elysian Quartet, Plaid (Warp Records veterans), Powerplant, Gabriel Prokofiev (Nonclassical), Elizabeth Walling and Max de Wardener (Accidental Records).

‘A night where classical sounds meet electronica squiggles in a flurry of chin-stroking, knowing noodling and musical mastery’ Guardian
